HAVE YOU CUT BACK ON LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT? 1_pic_2.jpg

It’s sad but usually true that organisation’s facing tough budgets inevitably start with the people programs. Why is this?

Are leadership programs seen as not really to important, or are they somehow mentally classified as being too abstract and nebulous? Yet the very same companies more than not, have annual reports noting that people are our number one priority. The decision to cut leadership seems to fly in the face of logic.

Unfortunately organisations that do this don’t know the damage that this type of approach will do in the long term. Well led people are a key solution to tough times. Engaged people can go the extra mile, and maintain customers. Almost everyone knows this, so why don’t they live it?

Does the solution lie in proving the impact people have on a business in mainstream, quantifiable terms ? Does it also lie in proving empirically how leadership is a direct and leading indicator of engagement?
